Once in a while, Ineed an extra little push to get out of bed in the morning. I either stayed up too late to binge watch a show on Netflix or one of the cats kept me awake all night.Whatever the cause, it’s not always easy. But that’s okay, because I’ve got a secret that can help make your groggy mornings a bit more bearable.

Say hello to these Tres Leches Overnight Oats.

Soaked in three different kinds of milk (almond, sweetened condensed and evaporated) and topped with chopped walnuts, cinnamon and banana slices, these overnight oats will sweeten your mornings and make waking up a little easier. Promise.

All you need is 5 minutes before bedtime to dump all of the ingredients into a glass jar and that’s it. Here’s what you do.

Add old fashioned rolled oats into a glass jar. Top with almond milk, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. Add cinnamon, chopped walnuts and banana slices. Close lid and shake for 15 seconds or so until well combined.

Refrigerate overnight and enjoy in the morning.

Easy peasy.

For this recipe, I used 8-ounce glass jars. It was a tight squeeze but it fit. I purchased mine at a local craft store, but I’ve also seen them at Target and Walmart. If all else fails, you can also find them here on Amazon.

If you don’t feel like going out and buying glass jars specifically for this purpose, I highly recommend reusing glass jars that you may already have in your fridge, even if they’re bigger than 8 ounces. I’ve personally made this recipe in a 16-ounce salsa jar or one of those spaghetti sauce jars. They worked perfectly!

I’m actually kind of a hoarder when it comes to glass jars. I never throw them away. It’s kind of a problem. An environmentally friendly problem.

I can’t have dairy, so replaced the evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milks with ones from a brand that makes coconut milk versions and it still came out great! Fantastic recipe, I made a huge batch for my family and I’m already being asked when I’m making it again.

It is definitely delicious but with the addition of the banana and walnuts it tastes more like a banana nut bread.

Can you use different nuts? And what bout granola instead of oats?

Hi Jessy! Yes, you can personalize it and add whichever nuts you prefer. I would also suggest maybe using granola as a topping instead as I’m afraid it might not turn out the same as using oats. I hope this helps!

Hi! Overnight oats are often eaten cold right out of the refrigerator, but they can also be warmed up. It’s up to you! And I think that’s a great idea. You can definitely make it in large pans to serve a big group of people. Hope you enjoy!

So after I open the cans of evaporated and condensed milk and maybe make 2 of these because they look awesome, what do you suggest I do with the rest of the milks? How long will they keep in the refrigerator?

Hi Barbara! You can use the leftover mix for tres leches overnight oats or tres leches coffee. We have recipes for both on our site!

I’ve made similar recipes using dairy milk and coconut milk. They turned out fine. I’m guessing you can sub those for the almond milk with no problem.
